ChangeTheWayWePlay Report

In 2020, at the height of the COVID19 pandemic, the authorities in Singapore implemented a host of measures designed to stop the spread of community infections of the virus. In mid-June, following the success of these measures and a drop in local COVID19 cases, the Government eased many of the restrictions. Despite lifting many of the emergency measures, most of Singapore’s FDWs were still barred from leaving their shared dormitories where COVID19 cases were still soaring. The measures introduced in Singapore to tackle COVID19 also meant that we were unable to offer our regular programmes for several months. Knowing how participation in sporting activities can help reduce stress, boost self-esteem and improve mental well-being, we sought an alternative way to provide fitness programmes. We had to #ChangeTheWayWePlay.
